Microneedling Collagen Induction Therapy

The mechanism of Microneedling action is based on Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), a treatment which aims to restore youth and smoothness to your skin by stimulating the natural production of collagen, the protein responsible for keeping the skin tight and firm.

Microneedling (also called vampire facial) is a cosmetic procedure. It involves pricking the skin with tiny sterilized needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin, which heal your skin and help you look younger.

Microneedling may help with issues like:

• Acne
• Dark spots or patches on your skin (hyperpigmentation)
• Large pores
• Reduced skin elasticity
• Scars
• Stretch marks
• Sun damage
• Fine lines and wrinkles

• Most people get microneedling on the face, but it can also be done on other parts of the body, such as hands, decollete, stomach or thighs.

Each microneedling treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes. During the procedure, your technician will apply a hyaluronic acid serum to your skin before gliding the ACS–PEN® over the skin’s surface in a precise pattern, allowing the micro-needles to enter the skin vertically. This will ensure a uniform treatment, with the precise number of micro-injuries necessary to generate results. The depth of the treatment will be determined by which skin concerns are being targeted. After the treatment, your technician will apply the appropriate post-treatment products, and provide you with post-treatment instructions.

The microneedling device is motorized, with a sterile tip containing very fine needles. When the device is run over the skin, the needles create tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin, triggering the body to create new collagen and elastin.

ACS–PEN® unique Linear Needle Module provides pain-free treatment. A facial treatment is done in only 20 minutes.

Aged and sun damaged skin should be treated in a “series” of 4-6 sessions in intervals of 2 to 4 weeks. A follow-up session or a series of treatment is recommended after 9 to 12 months, depending on the condition of the skin.

Due to advanced technology offered by the ACS–PEN®, downtime may be minimal or non-existent, and typically differs among patients. Some patients experience skin redness or sensitivity after the treatment, which may resolve in hours or days. Other patients may experience no redness whatsoever. Most patients return to routine activities immediately after the treatment. It is recommended that patients wait 24 hours before applying makeup, and avoid direct sun exposure until the skin has healed.

For optimal results, 6 microneedling treatments are recommended. For general skin rejuvenation, scarring, or stretch marks the treatments are performed every 4 weeks. For aging skin, the treatments might be performed every 2 weeks.

Many patients notice an immediate glow in their skin after their first microneedling treatment.
As you go through your series, you will begin to notice smoother skin and improved skin tone, as your natural exfoliation process is optimized. Within 4-6 weeks you may begin to see visible improvements in fine lines and pore size as the skin’s epidermis thickens. Improvement in scars may continue up to two years after the treatments, as new healthy tissue is generated beneath the scars.
